Dr. Jimmy K. Lee is a nationally recognized ophthalmic surgeon and educator, known for his expertise in laser vision correction, cataract surgery, customized corneal transplants, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and complex anterior segment reconstruction.

A Southern California native, Dr. Lee is proud to bring his decades of experience back home through Jimmy Lee Vision — a practice built around close collaboration with local optometrists to provide concierge-level ophthalmologic care directly in the comfort and familiarity of the optometrist’s office.
Dr. Lee graduated with Phi Beta Kappa honors from Johns Hopkins University and earned his medical degree from Cornell University. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Surgery at the prestigious Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
He has spent the past 15 years as Associate Professor and Director of the Cornea and Refractive Surgery Services at Yale School of Medicine, Yale Eye Center in New Haven, CT and at Albert Einstein School of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York. He has been recognized by Castle Connolly Regional Top Doctors, New York Magazine Top Doctors and Top Doctors New York Metro Area perennially by fellow ophthalmologists. In addition to providing the most innovative clinical care, Dr. Lee conducts research on nanoparticle drug delivery, artificial intelligence in cataract surgery, multiphoton microscopy for collagen imaging in various corneal pathology, computer vision syndrome, ocular surface disease and dry eyes, and limbal stem cell deficiency. His work has been published in over 50 originals papers in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, abstracts, and he has lectured extensively on these topics nationally and internationally. He is the Editor of the Refractive Surgery issue of Current Opinion in Ophthalmology and is the Associate Managing Editor of the American Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports.
Dr. Lee is one of seven members of the American Academy of Ophthalmology Preferred Practice Pattern Committee for refractive surgery- an expert panel who establishes guidelines for refractive surgeons in providing optimal patient care based on the best available scientific data.
